USM Board of Regents to Vote on 2011-2020 Strategic Plan
Adelphi, Md. (Nov. 30,
2010) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its
next meeting will vote on the USM Strategic Plan 2011-2020, an expansive document that outlines USM's vision for the next
decade.
Developed during the past several months, the Strategic Plan
articulates the action USM must take now to ensure Maryland can help the nation
regain economic and educational leadership.
The public meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, December
3, in the Alumni Suite of the Physical Education Complex at Coppin State
University, 2500 W. North Avenue, Baltimore, MD.
Upon implementation, the Strategic Plan will advance several
of the state's priorities, including job creation; providing higher education
access to more students; strengthening the state's innovation economy; and
helping more underserved populations earn college degrees.
In other action, the board will vote on two new academic
program proposals at Towson University and new policies regarding employment of
USM adjunct faculty and appointment of USM graduate assistants.
Reports will be presented from the councils of university
system presidents, faculty, staff and students.
After the public meeting, the
board will meet in executive session.
