Thirteen USM Leaders Named to Daily Record 2024 Higher Education Power List
Baltimore, Md. (Oct. 31, 2024) – The Daily Record, one of Maryland’s leading publications for government, business, and legal news across the state, has released its 2024 Higher Education Power List. This annual recognition of higher education leaders, policy makers, and advocates singles out just over two dozen Marylanders, highlighting their invaluable contributions to positioning the state as a national leader in higher education and home to some of the nation’s—and the world’s—top universities.
Of the 26 names on that list, 13—a full 50 percent—are from the University System of Maryland (USM). This includes Board of Regents Chair Linda Gooden, Chancellor Jay Perman, and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Alison Wrynn. Honorees also include no fewer than nine university presidents from across the system as well as one senior vice president.
The work of these men and women has become increasingly important as the challenges impacting higher education continue to grow. Collectively, these individuals have bolstered access and affordability for Maryland’s students, elevated the quality of higher education across Maryland, driven workforce development and economic growth throughout the state, promoted groundbreaking research that has improved lives, and advanced efforts to foster equity and social justice.
The USM changes Maryland for good. The Daily Record Higher Education Power List is a noteworthy celebration of the work the USM does and the impact the USM has throughout Maryland.
