USM Board of Regents to Hold Annual Retreat
Baltimore, Md. (Nov. 27, 2018) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold its annual retreat on Thursday, November 29 at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve. The hotel is located at 7795 Arundel Mills Boulevard, Hanover, MD.
The retreat is a public meeting at which the board discusses ongoing trends in public higher education and specific issues that routinely come before the USM.
The retreat will begin at 9 a.m. with opening remarks from board chair Linda Gooden. Sessions during the retreat include overviews on such areas as budget and financial ratings, enrollment and graduation rates, and economic outcomes. The meeting also features a presentation on board governance by Association of Governing Boards President Rick Legon.
At the end of the public session, the board will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items that are exempt from consideration under the Open Meetings Act. In closed session, the board would receive advice from legal counsel regarding public records requests. The board also would receive information and legal advice relating to litigation concerning the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
