Board of Regents to Consider Academic Program Proposals
Presidents Forum on USM's Relationships with Community Colleges also on Agenda
ADELPHI, Md. (October 18, 2005) — The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will consider proposals for three academic programs at its next meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 pm Friday, October 21, at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown, 32 W. Washington Street. It will be in room 124-125.
The board will review proposals for the following programs:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, to be formed by joining five existing doctoral programs—Human Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, and Physiology;
- Master of Professional Studies and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Professional Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC);
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Senior Housing Administration at UMBC.
Also at the meeting, the board will launch a new initiative, the Presidents Forum, an opportunity for the regents and the presidents of USM institutions to have a focused dialogue on selected topics. The topic at Friday's meeting will be the relationships between the university system and community colleges.
